As part of exploration of animation, the idea behind Frida’s Brooklyn Selfie was to bring Frida Kahlo, a Mexican surrealist painter into 21st century Brooklyn, NYC. In this short piece, Frida is filming a video selfie. She puts on sunglasses and waves at her iPhone camera.

NYC is considered by many to be a mecca for art, weirdness and creativity. With this clip I wanted to put arguably one of the most influential early 20th century artists into an environment where she would fit right in.
